50 is ridiculous. Pushing boundaries of tyre specs.
Why not go as per Merc recommendations? 32 is fine for normal 2 up use, same for 4 up. Only if you are really loaded as in camping gear or caravan towing, would I go above the 32. Any more just adds to the harshness of ride and doesn't give any advantages.

I was surprised myself I got two new tyres on and asked the guy what the tyre pressure should be I thought 32 psi in such a big jeep would be very low and he was the one that said 50 psi thought to myself it’s very high that’s why I asked the question on here and adjusted according

I ran Land Rovers at 28 most of the time.
I would do as Oigle - 32psi unless fully laden.

Just got the car back from service and they had done my tyres to 34 psi all round, inside the filler flap is say's 30 psi, checked on google the michelin site quotes 30 front and 32 rear for a clk 220.
I was using 30 psi for about 3 years but noticed the rears were wearing more in the mid section so dropped them to 27 psi and the fronts were wearing on the shoulders so have been trying them at 32 psi and they seem better.
I think somewhere close to the makers reqirements but up or down by 2 or 3 psi to suit your local use should still be ok but 50 psi sounds a lot

I've recently noted that with my tyres (widest shown on inside of fuel cap) my rears should be at 48 psi and my fronts at 35 psi. Prior to this I was running at 32 and 28 respectively (34 all round for fast motorway trips(. So locating the fuel cap info came as a great shock. Having found it why on earth woukd I argue agsinst MB and the mollions /billions they have inested in R&D? Keepind a dog and barking sorings ti mind.

My car is a 2011 C Class C 220 cdi blue efficiency AMG Auto Diesil Sports Estate 170bhp (W204).

I am surprised at the 48psi. Is that, by any chance, the pressure for a fully loaded vehicle, given that it is an estate? Also check the sidewall on your tyres and see what the max allowable pressure is. That must be very close to it.

Our 129 recommended pressures are 30 front, 33 rear unless laden and driving in excess of 135 mph when pressures are 36/46!

I tend to run 32 all round and find it a good compromise (and rarely get to 135+....)

Yes, I too was surprised, which is why I posted what I did.

I've taken a' photo of my fuel cap info so we can all see for ourselves what it shows. I don't recall anything about being fully laden or no so it was worth further investigation.

Looking at the photo the figures I gave of 48psi (rear) and 35 psi (front) were the fully laden pressures (my wheels/tyres being the very bottom line shown). Un-fully laden, the pressures should be rear 33psi and front 30psi. Much lower then for normal conditions then. I'd better nip out and adjust my pressures downwards accordingly and pdq!

As a side note, a long run at high speed (for me 133 miles to London on the M4 commencing at 3 a.m. at a cruise controlled av. of 85mph lifted my tyre pressures from, then, 32 psi all round to welp over 50 psi all round and took until the next day to come down to normal again (having driven back again). This is why we should all check our tyre pressures regularly - something most don't seem to do?

I seem unable to upload the photo of my fuel cap. "A security error occurred" it keeps on saying ("it" being my Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus android pile of crap!).

Any who want to see said photo will receive a copy via email from me if they note to me both their interest and email addy.
