Satnav software updates on M1 2019

This is for a friend of mine. She owns a new Mercedes-Benz M1 and has reported the fact that the satnav took her to the wrong place recently. Therefore I have offered to find out if there are any software updates available. And as people will know I am a techie so where do we look and check both in the car and then online for any software updates?

Which system does she have?
Command or Audio 20?
For Audio 20 Mercedes have an update tool you can download but it does not update maps just poi's front end and the like.
If it's a new 2019 model then I would get the dealer to sort it out and log it with Mercedes customer support.

I am not a great fan of MB sat navs, but they have always got me to the right destination.
I would be looking at what she inputted into the sat nav first.

Agreed, SatNavs (all of them) will always get you there, just almost never the best way.
Postcodes don’t always relate to the place you want to get to. When that happens I use the map to scroll around to get me to my location and check with google maps before heading off to somewhere new to me.

how old ?

UK cars with comand get free map updates inside first 3 years, probably quite a few other software updates needed for various bits, if inside the qualifying period book it in quick specifically for the updates.... of course an oil service or something else that can bill you for will make them more keen to help.

If doing maps MUST pre book including this work... and go to a big dealership where they have the space, capable techs, dedicated bay with power supply and xentry resources to get it done.

Should have free updates until 2022 then but don’t assume they will automatically do it!
