Hello all
Just a quick question
I’ve owned 63 plate car for just over a year so it now has no warranty
I’ve been looking to purchase this but is it really worth the paper it wrote on ?
They all seem to be pretty vague of what is actually covered
Has anyone got this and used it ?
Thanks in advance

2013 car that’s out of warranty ?
For me I’d just stick some monthly amount in the bank as a ‘just in case’ fund- use a good indie who will be proactive enough to mitigate against any unwelcome surprises - you’ve a pretty reliable model there

Thanks john
It’s a c220 and I’ve had the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and brake fluid changed today and the Indy said the car is in very good condition.
It’s only done 58300miles
Car box service was done last year so I’m hoping all will be ok
I had warranty last year but never needed to use it but you know soon as I don’t have it I will need it
Why did you mention 63plate being out of warranty with a question mark?
Thanks

As John above, on a car that is now 7 years old (or will be this year) I too would put aside an amount to cover any eventualities.
If you don't use it, consider it money saved. I think the only warranty worth having is a Mercedes Teir 1 which I found for my 2014 car to be rather expensive (£62 a month). So I too have put aside some money and hope the worst doesn't happen. My choice.

I've never bought a warranty in my life .... extended or otherwise. From what you read or hear, there are that many get out clauses. The only warranties I've had were the 12 months that came 'free' with each of the used Mercs I've bought from MB

Tier 1 @£62 a month? Wow that’s cheap, beggars charged me £1050 for a year with £250 excess and that too was a 2014!

As per above, keep it well maintained and you should be fine. Warranty companies are in the business of making money... and they don’t do that by paying out (easily)

Ooops........senior moment there. the £62 per month was for a service plan which I was considering.
You are correct, its over £1k a year for an E63:(

Edit......12m cover is an astronomical £2875 with no excess. 24 months is a one off £5700:shock:

As above with an IL4 motor put the money in the bank hopefully you will never need it, anything post 16 plate can have Nox sensor issues which can be a big hit so possibly worth taking the warranty (if they are covered)

Holy mother of god!! £1050 was somewhat ‘acceptable’ but certainly that price makes your strategy decision considerably easier!
My service plan was £45 a month, I was lucky as offer was on the go when I signed it...

Probably a few Biturbo engine faults filtering through the dealers with some of the higher mileage ones John.
Got to cover themselves for engine rebuilds with that premium!

Mercedes no longer offer the Tier1/2 etc differing levels of cover. There is just one standard warranty, which provides cover up to 10years old/120k miles only, and excludes wear and tear. The change was in March 2019.

Mercedes extended warranty on my 2016 E350 (25500 miles) was only £499 which I thought was pretty good.

Mind you I have not used it and it’s due for renewal in April.

All depends on mileage covered and age of car my son does 20k miles a year with his 16 plate W213 and pays £70pm for his extended warranty

Hello Robin
You say £499 is pretty good but like you say you’ve never had to use it so you will never know how good
I don’t think anyone knows good until you try and make a claim

BMW operate a 3 tier system which is a much better way of doing things, full cover, named components and basic drivetrain cover all of which can be reduced by using an excess. I don’t cover a big mileage (5k) with the 4 series and full cover costs £300 with a £250 excess
