Over the last week i have been looking for an E320 - i wanted a second car mainly for the wife to use when i stumbled upon this:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classi...chad=Used&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1

The price range is perfect, i am looking for something under £5k so that's a box checked but after doing a quick check on https://www.rapidcarcheck.co.uk/ it's showing mileage problems:

Details: The odometer reading reduced by 28486 miles between 28 Jul 2006 and 09 Aug 2007

I did want to view the car but now i am slightly confused as to whether it's worth it or not? Has anybody here experienced a similar scenario and would this put you off buying it?

Thanks in advance guys..

Looking at the wheels it has been messed with - no mention of the mileage loss in the advert - why...

That’s first one looks like a great car , especially the enthusiast bit , not your usual rubbish

That is what I thought and no SBC to worry about

Was the mileage doctored on the first one or did the MOT station miskey the mileage first time? Did the first owner trade the car in at 3 years old as many do and the "dealer" clocked it for the resale? As its a diesel you would expect to cover a reasonable amount of mileage so 48,500 miles for the first 3 years would sound about right. Less than 19,500 miles for 3 years doesn't feel right but then again, if it was the MD's wifes car maybe it it is right and the station miskeyed. Those wheels are nasty!

Personal preference I know, but if I was budget restricted to around £5k I rather have a good 211 than a 212. Despite having had a 212, it was never the nicest interior. The 211 and 213 interiors make you feel part of the car, whereas the 212 feels like you are sat in the car as a surplus part.

Agreed, I never got on with the 212 so never had one. Also loved the 210 interior, that was very nice

Yes, I did like my 210, but that was when Mercedes still did proper wood interiors rather than the brushed aluminium or carbon fiber effect than seems to appeal to their target younger demographic these days. Having just ordered an All Terrain, I had a choice of black fake wood, black fake wood or black fake wood.

Loved the birds eye maple in my 210.

Something about the older 211 , the 212 is just so sterile .
