An old B-Class.
They over engineered the electrics on the older Renault, only they forgot to reinforce the wiring loom to take the extra current
Anyway, I am sure I have a Renault somewhere amongst my collection..................

My wife and I have each owned Renaults years ago. Her 5 & 9 never gave a minutes trouble - my R10 needed several clutches (I became a master of replacing clutches) but i'm sure that it was down to my driving (19 at the time).

MB sells well with a 3 year warranty. Why do they need to add a big warranty?

I bet it was Matty , I loved that era of cars , they had character and charm that modern cars lack

I loved em back in the day , Renault 19 16v was a peach of an engine , naff all else could touch it in that bracket of car and then a car a still wish I owned a 21 turbo Quadra in Williams blue , fabulous car and happy days

This era Renaults must be pretty tough as there's still plenty of 19s/21s going round here in various states of disrepair. I even saw a Renault 21 taxi the other day (though that is rare!), if a taxi isnt a new toyota hybrid or dacia sandero it's usually a mk1 octavia. There's usually a few old Peugeot 405s on the roads that seem to survive rather well too and of course a fair few knocked about W124s/190ds still used as family cars/daily drivers. That said, you never see any Ford Sierras, Opel/Vauxhall Cavaliers which must have been pretty ubiquitous - so maybe the French mechanicals weren't so bad compared to the other mainstream stuff...

In the early 2000's i had a mate who had a Renault 25 turbo in black with black leather. Absolute flying machine. The French used to make wonderful fast barges.

Loved my V6 Clio, one of the best cars I ever owned

A stonking great car
But it’s got a Nissan engine from the maxima
But it must be good as I knew of a Renault spyder with the Clio V6 fitted after he blew the original Spyder motor.

I genuinely believe they were pal but they dropped the ball in the 2000's same as Peugeot , great cars like the 205gti and 405mi 16v then a succession of bland , badly built , unreliable shiz heaps

I'm still running around in my late father's Peugeot 206. It's a 2002 car and runs like a sewing machine. It'll never set my heart racing but it does what it says on the tin.

I had a Citroen C5 - don't remember which but it was a "posh" model. Nice to drive (auto) incredibly comfortable and had some oomph available. Gave about 45 mpg (diesel) on long motorway runs. Sounds great doesn't it?

But the electronics were absolutely diabolical - for no apparent reason it would go into limp mode then if it gave a message it was pretty meaningless. I took to a local Citroen Service Dealer who stripped out the entire dashboard trying to track down the problems and had it in the shop for 10 days - and they genuinely were working on it. It seemed fine for a couple of days then it all started again so I just got rid of it.

I will never, ever buy that brand again!

When i was a child my dad always had Citroens. GS estate, CX estate and then 2 Ciitroen BX's. He never had a problem with them that i can recall but maybe back then Citroens were still real Citroens. Hydro suspension and all.

I learnt to drive in a Citroen BX. Loved it.

I think these days the majority of the Citroen sales are price driven, what with the discounts and bonuses. Just as an aside I see that Citroen sales in Australia in 2019 were expected to fall well below the 2018 level of 494 units for the year. Now, they have got to do something about that, most obviously with a pricing strategy, or pull out of Oz. Doesn't say much for the product does it ?
