Car is great - you’re right the Pan Americana grill isn’t everyone’s taste , not for me personally but it’s the current trend- BMW are currently copying too
I'm not a fan of that grille either.
It's just a bit too Hannibal Lechter for my tastes.

Had a little bit of back to back testing today.

I've fancied one of these for a little while, but they aren't exactly practical! This one has the same remap my old grey car had. The dyno shows 571bhp. Made my pal big Jim smile...

So, what is it like and how do they compare? Obviously it's quick. The engine is essentially the same, but it sits further back and lower down in the GT, thanks to dry sump and transaxle gearbox right in the back. You sit very low, and the bonnet is hugely long and the car is wide. The wheels are way out in the front corners, completely ahead of the front of the engine. I think it's the combination of these two things that make it quite hard to place the nose accurately on turn in. I found it frustrating anyway. You'd probably get it with seat time I guess. The other thing that would take some getting used to is the weight of the gearbox in the back. It makes its presence felt if you lift in the corners and also under braking. Again, probably something you'd get used to in time.

Overall it was ok, but I don't think it's worth twice the price of the C class. The C63 is certainly more of a hooning tool imo!

One more pic of the hot vee

Definitely a car that you need front parking sensors on to avoid stuffing the front end into brick walls and concrete bollards..

Now they've brought out a convertible, I would definitely consider one, but not until it has depreciated a bit more.

This left today :(

My job was to replace the alternator and AC belts. The AC belt had partially shredded and had caused the alternator belt to develop a "string" from its edge, whipping around. Mercedes had quoted the owner almost £800 to supply and fit two belts. To be fair it isn't a straightforward job. The oil cooler pipes run through the middle of the belts for starters, and access is "tight". Took me a morning and one bleeding knuckle. I could do another one quicker now though :)

I’d like to say this car is for sale, but it sold this afternoon.

B12F2118-0DAD-4249-9C2A-87A45BD612AE.jpeg You’ve definitely improved your C63 estate from when it left the factory. The dechrome definitely works! I have a C220d Amg Line, saloon, in white, the chrome around the windows doesn’t look right, now I’ve seen yours I need to find someone to do mine!
The new grille is awesome too.

Yep you need to get one just so you can say you have it, and a 202 while your at it ;):p

I have owned an S202 C43 in my time. I couldn’t keep the rust at bay, sadly. Never owned a 204 C63. Driven plenty, but never really felt the love
