Hi all, and thanks for the add and first time owning a Mercedes.
I have Mercedes Benz CLC200 diesel 2009 and I noticed my drivers side mirror turning signal is not working. The mirror itself folding and adjusting works. I suspect it could be a loose connection or need to replace the bulbs.
I have been looking online on how to remove the cover and the one found that’s close to my mirror (see pics for reference) is by prowing the mirror glass to gain access to the wing mirror indicator unit. Knowing my luck and heavy handed that I might crack the mirror. Is it easy to prow the mirror or is the an alternative way to gain access.
I assume they are LEDs and complete unit. Any recommendation where I could purchase the wing mirror indicator besides the dealer in the UK?

Many thanks

Hello and welcome,

Could be a broken wire in the door - 10 years of opening and closing...

The mirror has a string of led's. Rare that they should all go at the same time, so - as said - it sounds like a circuit break somewhere.

The mirror will dismantle without removing it from the door. If you need to do that to replace the led strip, just be aware that the style strip on the leading face of the mirror (the 'tongue' in your first photo) is also stuck to the led clear plastic moulding with double-sided tape and will need 'easing' off.

I repaired a harness to one of these last year on an E class , it had broken all the wires in the cold weather so it is possible to fix one pal

Thank you for the heads up and sounds it’s going to be a headache if I have to replace led strip. I will start by checking if there is any damage to the wiring. Hope it’s just a loose connection.

Pretty sure that's going to be a broken wire or 2 from the constant folding.
Had same problem on my R171 SLK.
Easy fix, if a little time consuming.

Happened on my CLK, new LED cured it. Taking the mirror glass out is very easy too, not a big job to fix.

Hi Trev1964 I have not yet looked at mirror but bought led strip indicator just in case. It’s a bit difficult to see through the gap between the mirror glass and casing. By squinting my eyes through the gap I can just make out the 2 cable connector at rear of the mirror glass towards the top. I have not picked the courage yet to prow the mirror glass of the casing as I have heavy hands

Hi rf065 you make it sound easy . Knowing my luck will have the mirror glass shattered.
I was looking at this YouTube video
where there are clips/ tabs to remove the mirror glass and then there’s this YouTube video
where you prow out the mirror glass. Both videos mirror style is close to mine.
Not sure if there is any difference between either prowing or trying to undo the clips/ tab behind the glass mirror

Hi TM691,

Sorry to reply to such an old post, but have been scouring the internet to find the part number or somewhere to buy a replacement indicator lens strip (without having to go to the expensive dealer option). Can you tell me what you bought, maybe where from and what the item number was? I am struggling as W203 as a model number only ever turns up the old style mirror and lens, pre-facelift.

Thanks, Steve'o

I bought mine from a German supplier. Much cheaper than MB. The led's are not separately replaceable as they are molded into the clear plastic indicator lens. You need the complete lens.
Straightforward job, but care needed.

Hi
You seem to know a lot about this mirror, in which case do you know how to remove the mirror cover.

Did you manage to remove the cover to replace the indicator unit or did you do in situ. if you removed the cover could you tell me how you did it
