Just finished all stages of the c-tec charger including the renew. Voltage reading 13.08 which would be great but I will look again in the morning to see how much it has dropped.

That's a typical surface charge reading which will disappear after the first 5 mins usage, as you say see what it sits at in the morning.

Just checked and it is reading 12.4V. The dashboard warning has gone but after a good charge this is still a bit low so I am content that a replacement is the way to go. I don't want a battery that is doubtful. If the new one lasts the next 6 years I can consider it as a running cost.

Fitted the new battery, not the easiest job as it weighs 29Kg.

Made sure I kept all the settings by putting a battery charger on the leads as I changed it over. Gave it a 10 minute run this morning and all is fine including the stop start light going green once it got up to temperature.

Now all I have to do is remember to turn it off each time I go out.

Thanks for everybody's input.

Stay well

Did you by any chance take a voltage reading of the new battery before fitting it?
No sorry, It did occur to me but only after I had fitted it and run the engine.

Just checked the voltage on the old battery, which is sitting in the garage and it is still at 12.4 v after 3 days. Probably still had some life left in it but I am happy to know that the new one is in and should be good for a few years.

Really odd. Just put a meter on the old battery again out of curiosity and it has gone from 12.4 to 12.5 while sitting on the garage floor not connected to anything.

It might just be grateful and feeling rejuvenated for the rest? :)Did you use the same instrument to measure the voltage?

Yep, same meter. I did wonder if the Ctek desulphation phase was starting to do something.

Most likely, as the battery is charged and idle no further degradation will be building up and things will only improve, keep it charged!
