Had nothing from Mercedes apart from notifications that they've shut most of their premises.

Got this from Lexus though, which I though was a nice, if somewhat irrelevant, touch: -

We've extended your Roadside Assistance cover
until 28.06.21 at no extra cost

Hello Dave

In these uncertain times our customers' safety and peace of mind is our main priority. For this reason we will be extending your Roadside Assistance cover for an additional 3 months, at no additional cost to you. Cover for your Lexus RX with registration number D3YTS will now expire on 28.06.21.

In the meantime, for the latest updates on how Lexus are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, please visit lexus.co.uk/covid-19.

I had the same. I can see the paragraph

“Charge (SOC) should ideally be maintained at 50% and shouldn’t drop below 30%. You don’t need to charge the 12-volt battery as this is supported through charging of the High Voltage (HV) Battery.”

causing no end of queries from many owners who never think about batteries normally.

Full email below - kind of short of the call Mercedes buttons in mine

If you are not using your car regularly, we recommend starting the engine and letting it run for a period of at least 15 minutes every two weeks. It is important to allow the engine to run for this long so the battery can charge properly. Be sure that your car is outside when the engine is running and don’t leave it unattended.

If you haven’t driven in a while we recommend checking the pressure of your tyres – especially if you’re taking a journey on a motorway where higher speeds may be involved. If you don’t know what pressure your tyres should be the recommended pressures can be found on the inside of the fuel or charge flap. You can also view the current pressure of your tyres on the instrument cluster after driving for a few minutes on your next essential journey.
If your car has been left in wet or damp conditions, a thin layer of surface oxidisation can build up on the surface of the brake discs, which may mean they sound a little noisy at first. This is perfectly normal and gently applying the brakes when driving will help clear this.

If you’re not planning on driving your car for a long period of time, it’s worth considering filling up your tank to full to reduce the likelihood of any condensation building up.

Your car is coated in a nano-particle paint which resists grime and corrosion. However, if it’s regularly parked under a tree or bush, it’s good to give it a clean and remove any dust or dirt.

To support you at this time, we are temporarily extending the overdue service limit, so that you can bring your car in when the Government says that it is safe to do so. Your complimentary Roadside Assistance cover will also be extended in-line with these revised service limits. For more information click here.
The majority of workshops will remain open with a limited team to accommodate breakdowns and the service of key workers’ cars. A list of these workshops can be found on our website.

As per government guidance, if your car’s MOT is due on or after 30 March 2020, its expiry date will be extended by six months, but you must keep your vehicle safe to drive. More information can be found on the government website.

I got my email yesterday.

I started mine yesterday afternoon for the first time in a couple of weeks .... no problems at all ..... went to Costco. First time out of the house other than to walk the dog or go to work. :)

I'll guess though the Halfords battery will be flat

I'm alternating between my E-Class and the wife's B-Class for the weekly shop, and taking the scenic route so they at least both get a good run every fortnight. Unfortunately both were full before the restrictions so can't take advantage of diesel at £1.09 a gallon :(

I've been filling up the daily when required (not much at the mo!) and sneeking an extra can of cheap fuel home for the parked-up SL

Took mine to Costco the other day - it's the only place I don't mind taking it due to the parking spaces. However, as we got there fairly early, most people had driven through parking spaces so were effectively reversed parked.

Have you worked out how much the few gallons of cheap fuel will actually save you in the SL?

Not knocking you, but it does tickle me when I read about those people that drive 5 miles further to save .5p /L.

Say 20 l @ saving of 20p/l = £4-00. Is it worth the effort?:)

However, I've recently moved to Yorkshire and I am amazed at what people will do not to pay an extra 1p.

I got the same "we're here for you" type message from MB and other organisations as well. Weird that all these companies normally couldn't give a toss about me. Patronising and cringe worthy.

Got a call from Mercedes today - the service D, originally booked for 27th of March, now re-booked for the 2nd of June, with courtesy car available the evening before, as previously arranged.

All the bits due confirmed (and it's a longish list), without prompting ... I'm impressed

Don’t speak too soon. Wait until the courtesy car is available and all the jobs are done properly :geek:
