EGR delete is something I would support/do until makers.. 1 reduce the costs of the components that keep it working. 2 or make it reliable enough that most will never need to think about it sgain. Ie my point made a number of times "useful tech" as opposed to toll station tech. Frankly flaps gates moved by electric motors, in an environment of crud, carbon, oil residue is just a short term bodge that makers have dumped on us.. Made slightly less so IFone could get at them to clean them out in a simple routine manner. Which we can't!!

Why is this ?
I personally am playing catch up with these DPF systems as im old school straight through exhaust Gazwould:D, Sorry I was misleading in that earlier post. It was actually the remap I was accusing of creating more of a soot problem. By defeating the EGR also, maybe I am misunderstanding but would I not be increasing emissions to the DPF although maybe not soot?

I have ordered all the parts. I should have them on Tuesday and I will change it on Friday next week. I ill take some pictures and do a quick DIY for it :D

Edit@
One quick question. I think I have asked about this earlier. Can you tell if is it safe to pour the coolant and just wait to free-airlock itself? Is there any tips you can do to prevent an airlock on this engine or is it better to pressurise the system at the dealer?

if you have this guide could you please post this as I’m having a nightmare with the car at the moment and really need it.

The mechanic said he needs to drop the engine, is it that big of a job?

Actually the opposite Kev , less soot as just clean air is used , inert exhaust gasses added by the egr causes less oxygenated combustion , unburnt diesel fuel molecules = even more soot.

Less soot for the dpf and no soot through the inlet manifold that would combine to make the horrible gunk .

Not us but with VNT turbos the hot side gets coked up and an over boost limp mode is triggered .

Has anyone tried that Terraclean? That could clean the gunk off the flaps in the manifold, as well as improving the mpg and performance. I’ve read a lot of good things about it, but wondered if it did any lasting damage?

Thanks Gazwould, I had only ever been familiar what EGR,s do when working. I know they are just another torturous device to achieve emission standards and what they do to engine inlets. This is my first van or car with swirl flaps and DPF. I now understand from posts here what a disastrous combination the EGR and swirl flaps are combined plus mileage. I did'nt know the true effects the EGR had on a DPF when disabled until you explained it there, just the remap to worry about then:). Only its a heartbreak of a job I would tackle the inlet manifold to clean it out. But my own rule applies here of not fixing something if its not broken

A friend of mine at work had it done on their E350. He said it definitely made a difference, but I’m still worried if it does any lasting damage to internal components.
A guy local to me runs his own business as a dpf/diesel specialist. He offers terraclean as a service, but mainly specialises in sorting any running problems people may have.
It’s tempting...
