Screwfix own brand, "ERBAUER" are excellent bits of kit and the Batteries are Interchangeable.
I bought the £79.99 Drill as I only required a cheap drill that I will only use maybe 3 times a year, and it's an excellent bit of kit, really feels like a quality product!
Not sure what the other tools are like, but if you just need a Drill for occasional use I don't think you will get better cheaper!

Didnt read fully through the thread but would you settle for a 240 or 110v 1/2" gun as i can highly recommend them for torque if they havent been mentioned before

Erbauer must have upped their game, some years ago I bought a 1/2" router for my router table, because it was about £80 compared to over £200 for the Triton one, but the Erbauer lasted 3 months before it went in the bin and I bought the Triton, which is a superb bit of kit and has been well used since purchase.

Yes, Screwfix stopped selling them a couple of years ago because of that reason but have now found a new manufacturer resulting in a far better product now. But you have to realise that these are purely for DIY use, not for continual professional use - of course any DIY product won't last. You have to buy proper Specialist Professional Tools for that, that cost 3/4 times more!

Just went out with my Ryobi and removed a wheel nut from the 210 (which last had a wheel off a year ago). No problems getting it off. 2 seconds of clack clack then whizz out it came :)

Had a look earlier for a Metabo, they only do 18v and for the little use it's get I'm not spending north of £100 on a bare unit in its box (I have 2x4ah batteries and charger that came with the combidrill). Wish they did a 10.8 - between the combidrill and sabre saw I have 4 batteries and 2 chargers!

After reading LK's experiment I thought why not?
4Ahr cell, not charged for a week.
2 of 'em came out easily after a couple of click clicks. Mine will be torqued to greater than most here.

Now I'm wondering if temperature makes a difference. A healthier battery, maybe bolts easier to shift ??

Don't dismiss looking at the Lidl or sometimes Aldi Titanium models they have three year warranties which i know they honour with little trouble just keep your receipt.

I leave some aldi titanium models for others to use and they have been faultless and because of their make are not attractive to thieves, from inside or outside.

They are good with their warranty - I've had a dremmel-type tool and a 10.8v 1/2" impact wrench replaced under warranty with very little problem, but they're the only cordless tools I've ever had to make a warranty claim on, and although the dremmel thing is OK the impact wrench is pants.

Mine came with a 2ah battery which will not undo wheelbolts. I think it was a Youtube video I saw where they tested the torque and mentioned that it needed at least 4.5ah to reach max torque which is why I bought a 5ah.

Does the Ah rating affect the torque of the unit? I thought it was just the capacity of the battery..?

Perhaps I am wrong but I thought there was a separate rating that defined a safe current draw in amps from the battery, which would potentially affect the torque?

Larger batteries will suffer less of a fall off in voltage due to load. Under high torque these will be high load.
At 18 volts the reduced voltage will be significant a proportion of that 18 volts. Result, less ability to drive the machine.

Ok, good to know. I probably should have know that from my electric model plane days.. but I think I was young and naive then.. and just wanted to "go and fly the damn thing" :)

The 5.0ah pack is a 10 cell pack where the 2.0ah is a 5 cell one.

If interested there are a few videos that have tested the difference.

I use a pneumatic one so not much help to you really but, if I were buying an electric one, I'd be going for an 18v Milwaukee.

I know a few guys in the trade and they all rate these highly.

Is that the Chinese Milwaukee ?

I also used a fully charged 4Ah battery.

The Ryobi i am going to order soon comes with a 4AH battery, most have a 2AH.
It seems not supplied with 5AH, but you can buy one off e bay for about £30

I believe the 4ah is also a 10 cell pack so should be fine. A genuine 5ah is around £70ish.

You can get Chinese a fair bit cheaper.
But if this will be your only Ryobi you won't need another battery for a good while.

As an aside, a while back a bought a 2nd hand jigsaw. It was worn and couldn't keep a line. Last week the'new' new one arrived. Nice bit of kit.
