Also, does anyone know what a mint, 15k miles sl55 could go for because once im done with this thing maybe after a few lovely drives i may sell it because i cant let it get neglected again.

I would think £14k - £16k depending on how well it comes out of the restoration process.

Mint low mileage SL55's do very well at large auctions. The last few I have seen on reported auctions have reached the best part of £30k for some reason. Trying not to be too optimistic, but if it is low mileage and in really good nick I think you'll find well over £20k is achievable, but with the current situation, who knows?

£30k will be an immaculate F1 example and over £20k will be a 2006+ year car. I think the price will depend on the level of restoration but I can't see a 2002 SL55 going for over £20k IMO :)

There is a dealer near me with a late 2004 (54 reg) 50k mile SL55 asking £17.5k.

I would think between 15-25k. It really does depend on the condition of the car etc.

Stood still I’d guess it’s worth twelve grand. Including tyres, consumables and paint rejuvenated I’d bet 3500 wouldn’t be too far away. I’d also want to replace any flexible fuel lines and drop the tank to clean the jellyfish out of it in addition to brake overhaul and all fluids and filters.

Cars worth what someone is happy to pay on the day. I got over18k for my 03 r230 v12 and my hand bit off by first to view. Was happy enough as it was pretty much what I had paid for it some 6 yr earlier, but it was mint, and well spec,d

I'm referring to bone stock SL55's with low mileage and I'm quoting actual prices achieved at auction over the past 12 months. £30k has been the hammer price on more than one example and presumably fees VAT and buyers premium would add 20% on top. It's the low mileage that seem to attract the premium prices. I don't really understand it myself but if you get the official MB magazine and look at auction reports on sold cars, it's easy to check.
I think the OP's example if it hasn't deteriorated and can be brought up to snuff will fetch really good money at a collectors auction. The 50k miler you quote is probably correctly priced. But who knows when the SL65 fetched £60k plus costs (so not far off £70k) at auction. OK so a different car but just shows the weirdness of prices in the current silly market.

Low miles, mint order with service records will always get best prices. I would, nt trust any MB site, mag on used prices, maybe it was owned by a celeb?

Not sure why you are doubting actual selling prices from Bonhams, Silverstone etc auctions?

In my view there will be something a bit unusual about a 02 sl55 making 30k but if yr convinced,go for it. Nice cars but ,not rare and not as rare in uk as my sl600 at full spec.but as said worth what you can get on the day..good luck
