Guilty  - I had three Maestros :oops::oops:, an Austin 1.6 and two MG 2.0i but none had the talking dash.
I had a drive in a West Mids Police Montego Turbo, you could change lanes just by excllatering, horrible cars.

I know, I hang my head in shame every time I think about it. My only excuse was that my Dad worked at the Cowley factory so I got family discount on anything Austin/Morris (hence my two Marinas). And, after that admission, I probably ought to leave the forum altogether.

you've just made it even worse!

I thought that MB removed that option ....

its the law, UK cars must be able to display BOTH KPH and MPH, but it doesn't have to display both at the same time...

on mine its called aux speed display, (and can be turned on or off) there is no unit setting you can change... on some, if you get in the main cluster menus and can select KPH then the aux will ALWAYS swap to the opposite (MPH in this case)

I can't stand digital gauges.
With a digital gauge you have to read and interpret the value whereas an analogue gauge you only need to know the needle position so it's better for a quick glance.

digital is just dangerous...

with a needle on a real gauge you can tell in your peripheral vision if its revving or going at the speed you want... with a stupid digital one, you have to take eyes off the road, relocate eyes to the cluster, refocus, read and try to decipher what its saying... this can take a few seconds, where a sensibly sized analogue gauge in the right place (as I say above) is always there in your periphery...

its probably like this on modern bikes to help pay taxes on speed cam fines !
