NOX Sensor

Hi All,

A bit of advice or just general thoughts please. I’ll try to keep it brief.

Bought a 2016 E class Coupe November 2019 from MB Dealership. On the journey back had EML light. Took it in to dealership who replaced 1 NOX sensor under Used Warranty. EML light off.

Fast forward 7 months and 7k miles and EML light back on. Back into same MB dealership. Both NOX sensors faulty (including the one replaced in November) both replaced under warranty.

My concern is the warranty runs out in November and at this rate will need new sensors again in December.

Mentioned this to MB and got usual dis-interest.

Good point .... I suppose they probably do.

It was also general concern at the rate of wearing through them ?

NOx sensors on MB do seem to be a bit cr4p. Lots of failures and updates including software updates.

Ain't no seem to be cxxp, LK they are cxxp must be made for around a fiver and statistically, designed to make it thru warranty. Benz should be made to extend warranty on their sensors pcb.

They do but only if you pay or contribute to the cost.

So if they have changed them under warranty, with no contribution from me and they fail 6 months later and my vehicle is out of warranty then the cost of repair is with me?

I had always thought that when Mercedes change a part under guarantee, then they consider that they're changing the original part and so the guarantee of the part continues from the original date of purchase (of the car). That is, no extension.

Whereas if you purchase a part, then it is covered by the two (?) year guarantee of that new part.
