After some advice really, orange engine light came on and plugged my mb2 and it says nox sensor bank 2 incorrect voltage , being the bluetec i know i have a recall coming and have been advised by mb bolton to await my letter to recify this foc but due to covid they dont know when, i have deleted the code and for now its off, can i continue driving without damage etc. I dont know if the recall will fix this issue tbh. car is a 2014 e350 blutec.

If you have a DPF monitor the fill levels as it probably won't do a regen.

ok just a quick update, i believe both nox sensors need to be changed at the same time even if only 1 is showing a fault, i have spoken to mb at bolton and they say it would have to be diagnosed and take it from there, i have asked for good will as i see some members have had some luck in getting these foc,if any independents could clarify what the proccess would be if i do this through my independent guy who has star etc. many thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you don't need to change both sensors at the same time. It's fairly common for the sensors to fail especially on e classes. As MB repairs go it's not that expensive roughly £70 for the sensor and a hrs labour to fit it. Your car should still regen once up to temp you might need to get the car up to temp then clear the code and go for the 65mph cruise control motoway drive.

I think your thinking of the wrong sensors, Nox sensors are £300+ each and sometimes do have to be changed in pairs, data card updated and the latest software applied.

Just a quick update on my nox sensor issue, i booked into an indy and he suggested an update sadly this didnt work, for anyone ordering new sensors and doing it diy like myself be very carefull which sensor you get, even if the part number is correct they have to be the latest revision in my case q5 or you just fit the same set to fail sensors and 2 years later your doing it all over again, i have took a gamble and ordered from mercedes usa and are the latest sensors which will require a software update.

very interesting as the update did nothing as per your post, will fix and make car ready for a sale, i have had 6 mercs over 25 years and it going to be the last, my neibour has a e300 hybrid and has just started playing up 1 month out of warranty, apparantly needs a £3200 pounds part to fix, something to do with the motor, my wife has an m135 and from day one not one issue, bmw it is then.

someone pointed out to me the recent ridiculous price rises of new cars and motorbikes is entirely designed to stop one being able to afford to buy a new vehicle....

They only want you on the lease schemes, which are becoming more and more affordable...

but it only makes sense to the manufacturer if you make them dead cheap... So, so long as you join the lease club and ensure you throw it in a skip at two years, you can avoid the pain and suffering that starts going in to year three. And if you bin it at two years you should also escape much of the big servicing costs... Then if you've looked after it, the dealership can fob it off to some mug who thinks they are getting a bargain, but will soon get hit with hideous service costs and at year 3 when he doesn't renew the expensive warranty he can become bankrupt.... and or learns the lesson of leasing a new one (and becomes yet another "new car buyer").

the last thing that plan needs is cars than make it "reliably" past year 3 or are affordable to service... so design it to die and make service costs unaffordable so the manufacture can claim the warranty's invalid - the planet will die, but they make lots of new car sales - driving up the efficiency of their manufacturing sites - (one has to ask what use accountants are?)

As you can get a brand new E220d Estate for less than £30k I don’t think your argument stands up...

I think botus has a point.somewhere between what he says and where we are now lives the truth.

Merc sensors are rubbish .the business of having to buy completes assly to get sensor ,adblue tanks ect. Many examples, sure cant be good for the planet.? It sur aint good for my wallet. The cynic in me says that as soon as they can get away with it ur car will have to go for an update ,read f date every three months,or it will just not start .regrettably I have bought my last modern benz.to much dtf for my liking and I am now in the realm of trying to keep to a fairly fixed income.

I genuinely believe quality of the later mercs have slipped, i still love the brand i really do but the premature failure of sensors ad blue tank heaters port shut off motors and not forgeting the 7g box electro plate etc makes this a very expensive car to own and run, i,m not a great lover of bmw but the wife has always had them and other than routine serviceing and general things like brakes and shockers they just keep going , i have no choice except to bite the bullet and repair this myself as acording to my main dealer in bolton there is no such problem with NOX SENSORS.

usual main dealer BS pal , modern cars are riddled with common faults which are mostly down to emissions related parts and the future is electric apparently . . . . . . . . they going to be easy to fix aren't they ?

very interesting as the update did nothing as per your post.

I thought it was very similar... and I thought STAR mentioned a very similar way to resolve it...

The EML light comes on but the car drives OK,
Diagnostic show a fault on a sensor
Diagnostics will measure a fault in live values
They then sell you the "old" spare part and the fault comes back again

The real fix is to fit a later part, flash various modules with an update and reset and clear stored codes.

is that not how they fixed yours?
