This is my first car without a traditional dipstick.....so I'm assuming most if not all recent model Mercedes are like this.
Also the practice of checking while the engine is running is totally alien to me, although I suppose it needs to be that way.
I checked the level today for the first time(car is 3 weeks old) and the level is reading maximum just as I would expect.
Like I said I have no experience of this electronic method of checking the oil level so I am wondering how accurate it is compared with checking the traditional way?
Do others prefer this method?
I haven't made up my mind yet...... :)

Smart + others :)
From a techi prospective, very poor idea. Let’s say a car comes in on transporter, customer reports noise from somewhere? How do we know how much oil the car has in it without running it? Too much? To little or non at all.

Designers re-inventing the wheel for the sake of it. Just because we can doesn't mean its a good idea.
I think it's called progress ? anyway resist at your peril, you will be accused of being a Luddite ;)

They’re designing for the “app” generation, they get everything from a screen so couldn’t open the bonnet if they wanted to.
The designers therefore put the information on the dash in an “alert” with a “pop-up”.
Time to face the facts, we’re not the customers that manufacturers are targeting... they want 36 month PCP’s on 6k pa miles and tied in servicing.

It must surely depend on the specific engine then regardless of model it is fitted to?
