Ml 270 cdi intermitant fault

Hi everyone please excuse me but i am new to the mb forum ,my question is this ,,i have a x reg ml as i drive along all of a sudden the esp bas light comes on then all hell brakes loose all the warning lights come on and the guages drop and rise .then it goes into limp mode ...it may do this once a week or three times a day .
I have had it on a merc diagnostic machine and it does not read errors just can bus error !!
Yesterday it got worse and now will not start at all .....
Has anyone got any ideas or had similar problem ......

Hi and welcome to the forum,
Usually ML owners stick together & try to help each other out on this forum not a good start as you've had 36 people look at your thread.

I'm interested to here any developments regarding you problems
I've never heard of this problem but it sound quite technical so I never replied was waiting for someone with more experience.

It could be the esp bas relay you could swap it with the one next to it I think its for the radio.

Hi Rob,

It could be the brake light switch or possibly the wheel sensor. A lot of the circuits I have been told are wired like a series circuit if something goes it can start an effect so the others come on. On MY03 ML, I had my front wheel sensor fail and the BAS, ESP and diesel electronics light came on and the vehicle went into limp mode around 3 times in the week.

I would suggest that you should get your ML put on STAR as this will pin point the root of the cause.

I hope this can be of some help, someone may be along with a better solution. Although it is best to put the car on STAR.

Hello, I have read your post. I have the same issue. MY bas esp lights came up and the transmission goes in limp mode...stuck in P, and when I drive it accelerate very slow and no gear down....no kick down. My OEM multimedia shows me low battery voltage too. I'll be very happy if you tell me what was the problem and how you sloved it. Thank you

First thing I would do is remove the near side headlight and check the wiring loom where it passes through the bodywork, the wires sometimes rub there and end up shorting out against the body causing all sorts of chaos, if it is that it's an easy fix though.

I'll check the wires. My windshield water tank is leaking leaks and i think the water fall over this module and wires. May be there I will find something.The bas esp light gone ,i change the brake pads today and the front left brake mechanism was sruck and may be the problem with the bas esp and the transmission stuck on P was fixed with this. But the transmission problem with the slow acceleration and no kickdown still exists.
