2006 W169. When I open the rear offside door a reasonable quantity of water spills onto the floor. It's as if it is trapped between the seals somehow. I can't see any signs of ingress at the top of the door or around the sides. Any ideas chums?

Sorry, don't have rear doors - C169 ... but if you get water in the spare wheel well, I'll know what to do.

Me thinks this could be a lot of guess work.
Is it getting past your window seals, and emptying out of the door?
Is the window firmly up?

There is loads on here about this fault, it’s the rear grills behind the bumper that let the water in, it gets so bad it overflows into the car!!

That's what I meant with water in the spare wheel well, but I thought the OP actually seeing water ran into the car off the rear doors as they open?

He said "When I open the rear offside door a reasonable quantity of water spills onto the floor" - not "there's a puddle by the rear door" or something to that effect?

If it is the latter, then of course it's the air pressure vents' covers behind the rear bumper - done mine a few months ago ...

Sounds like door is holding water, maybe in its sealing strip? Blocked rain gutters or drain holes in door rubbers? Window rubber not sitting tightly against the glass?
Open door and use a slow running hose pipe on the glass and see if area behind door card gets wet.

If rear door internals were worked on and the door cards removed and the membrain left off,, this will let water in to the footwell .If water is just on the sill plate that will be a drain hole in the door blocked ..

I’ve had it that some had a door panel off and damaged the water seal at the bottom of the panel. Kept getting a damp bottom of the door until I repaired the previous damage to the seal

It's never inside the car - it is on the bottom of the door aperture between the two seals - I'm wondering if it is somehow getting inside the door and then not draining out until I open it...

Erm.....DURRR! Obviously the drain holes are clear otherwise water wouldn't come out! Anyway, I cleared all of them when I got the car and sorted out the usual issue on these cars of the sealant around the door skin coming adrift. I said at the start that the water comes out when I open the door - I shall have to investigate further but it's always worth posting on here to find out if things are common or experienced by other members.
