Hey OP, I have the same car. Don’t have a battery in the boot and there is no chance you’ll get a battery for an S213 for £100. It has to be the wrong battery.

Mercedes just fitted a new battery after my stop start stopped working and paid 60% goodwill (Full Mercedes Service History)

Get it in to the specialist on this forum and never take a car like that to any chain garage. They are unfortunately, just kids out of college. You did the right thing coming on this forum and asking! Hope it gets sorted soon.

I would like to say that my main battery was nearly flat a month ago. So I had it changed for a new one. It’s more powerful and about an inch bigger than the old one. It would not fit into the space. So they wedged it in filling the bottom area with cardboard and a bit of cardboard at the side to stop it from moving. Then it kinda fit and they put the cover back on top. Due to covid I could not get a Mercedes battery. Still cost me £100 online and they charged me £15 for fitting.

could that have an impact on the auxiliary battery?
Try keys in Bexleyheath a very reputable Mercedes indepdant family run business for years

Hi all, sorry to jump on an old thread but thought that related info would fit best here.

I have the Auxiliary Battery Malfunction and have replaced the capacitor in the passenger footwell. Unfortunately the message has come back so I'm looking for help to understand other potential contributors. My main suspicion is the main battery so that's currently my next step. The main battery ran quite low during covid and I'm wondering if this could be the cause.

Other than that, it could be a faulty replacement capacitor (have asked for a replacement).
I guess I could check all the fuses.

Any ideas? All input gratefully received.

All the best,
Icdbdis.

Put it on a battery conditioner if you can, the electrical load is so much higher on new vehicles and keeping the battery topped up is essential.

Thanks @Blobcat . I did get the Optimate on the battery in the end but suspect it had reached quite a low level of charge by the time I got there.

Update: after charging the main battery the 'Auxiliary Battery Malfunction' has stopped appearing. Stop/start function indicator was green and stop/start is working. I'll keep an eye on it and update here accordingly but, if said malfunction is encountered, it might be worth considering the age and health of the car's main battery.
