A week ago I saw someone locally selling off a load of classic Merc spares, so I popped over to buy, as outside was this gorgeous 200d fintail. I was told under no circumstance would it be for sale as he'd be taking it back home to France in a couple of weeks, but I enjoyed looking around it and chatting to the gent about it.
Anyway, later that night he text to say he would let me buy it, and I collected it a couple of days ago and I love it! IMG_20200911_134949455.jpg IMG_20200911_134937890.jpg IMG_20200911_140037032.jpg

That's an absolute classic. Lovely to see. (but no Sat Nav!)

Haha no, he has a 108 250se for sale, but I used to own one of those a few years ago, so wasn't for me!

To be fair, with a car like that the last thought on my mind would be arriving anywhere in particular. I'd be to busy enjoying the 'getting there'. No map or Nav required.

Absolutely. Worry free motoring. Pretty much anything can be fixed roadside with WD40 and zip ties.

If it moves and it shouldn't zip tie it.
If it doesn't move and should WD40 it.

Anyone want to guess how long the glow plugs take, bearing in mind it was 18c today?

At a guess 10 seconds.
Lovely car brings back memories I lived in Germany in the late 60's early 70's. Did thousands of miles in friends cars who had them, I didn't buy one as I was too worried about repair costs. But they had very few problems ever at high millage.

It was a full 65!
I'm going to upgrade them to the faster parallel setup like I did in my 115

Remember to grease the front suspension frequently. These cars are festooned with grease nipples.

Bah! It will start well below that if the engine is healthy.

Has the old loop ones with the 5th plug in the dash, didn't start to glow until 60 seconds! The early 115 had the same, and when I changed them for the pencil plugs you could start in 5-6 seconds
