It's me again with another Youtube clip :)

Interesting take on things and also interesting to see how we have gone full circle on the environment/safety argument.

I’m just astonished that a 1.3 litre Montego was getting 32mpg in 1991, and my H reg (I think 1990?) Astra 1.6 petrol would return 50mpg no matter how it was driven.
Plus, an engine released in the same decade, the M113, could deliver 25mpg combined despite being almost 4x the displacement!

I love his posh accent on this video. He's sure ditched that posh refinement for the more straight talker.

We had a 1.3 litre Maestro, in Brown. Yum.

I had a Maestro 1.3 many years ago as a Courtesy Car. A truly memorable car. It was the worst car I have ever driven, unreal, and it was their response to the Escort I believe. Unbelievably it sold in quite large numbers, there were lots of them around that's for sure :eek:

For about 6 years until they biodegraded..! Yes, a truly terrible car in literally every single way possible.

I saw a blue Austin Aggro on way to hospital last Friday. The later squared off model.

My brother had a chocolate brown metallic one. Who said you can't polish a turd :geek::rolleyes::D:D It was actually a good little car with the hydrolastic suspension.

Cars didn't weigh much back then and emissions weren't an issue... If they had been as aerodynamic as modern cars they would really have had good economy

Sad day when the Rover lean burn technology was killed off due to the push for diesel. Now its back.
