Evening people. Just had a quick question regarding the cali[ers on my 2014 amg line a180.

In a video showing the removal of the calipers some people used a caliper rewind tool and some did not. Does anyone know if this is a nesesity or can you do it without. If so what does it do and at what stage do you use it?

My understanding was you only need it for the back calipers.

Cheers in advance!

Also, does each break pad need a break pad wear adjuster or is it only the front were these are located?

on the dash menu...scroll down to service...click ok...then scroll down to brake replacement...and you can then retract the pistons electronically...I'm pretty sure thats how its done on a 205 with electronic handbrake

be careful, rewind tools are needed on callipers that have handbrake attached, some Mercedes have a separate handbrake system which is a drum incorporated into the disc and uses brake shoes as the handbrake.
I do not know if you have this, but only callipers with hand brake attached need to be wound in, as the hand brake winds them out when applied to adjust. Callipers without a hand brake mechanism just need to be gently pushed back in like front ones.

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- ford kuga 65 plate awd powershift .
If its a rewind in piston , it'll have notches on its face. Also the handbrake will work off the same caliper.
