How much for an MOT pass...?

A question for the forum... do you think it will be cheaper to get an MOT Pass on a Porsche 911 or a Land Rover...

Just to be clear I don't think either will be £39.95 at Hellfrauds or anywhere like that...

The 911 hasn't been used since 2016 and the Land Rover since 2018... both have been "stored" outside..

If anyone would also like to hazard a guess as to the relative costs of the MOT's on both I'd be interested.

I don't have an idea on costs for either as yet but will update the thread once more information is available

No, and to be fair to the forum the 911 had a new set of discs in the boot (no pads though as I couldn't find them)

I'd hazard the one most recently used, only as corrosion might not have attacked brake pipes etc so much. Have you been running the engines at all ?

I'd go with the Porsche , I've had 3 Land Rovers and they were all a nightmare in different ways .

The Porsche has been run a few times and it's been filled up with super unleaded again and a ~200 miles drive to the pre-booked MOT showed no issues.

I'd go with the Porsche , I've had 3 Land Rovers and they were all a nightmare in different ways .

I've a 5 page document for the Porsche and I've an on-site meeting about the Land Rover this afternoon...

The costs for either to get a pass will be the same provide they are in passable condition.
Its the failure that will cost and that will vary per car based on the issue.

No sure yet, it will be significant, however it is a sports/super car and therefore has expensive tastes. There's no such thing as a "cheap" super car... There's quite a lot on the list that don't need to be done for an MOT pass - IMS Bearing upgrade being one, but knowing it's been done means no worries when the loud pedal is pressed

A dash of redundancy, a soupcon of solicitors and a gluttony ex-spouses leads to a distinct lack of funds and time for toys

Wow, we don't get any Porsche's here and I'm obviosuly somewhat stuck in the past with my mode of daily transport... I thought it looked 5 or 6 years old! Glad you can get it back on the road and it's appreciated in value

Just for background my recent return to the road after 9 years in a garage BMW Z3 2.8 1998 model was just under £1600 including recovery and MoT. That required:
Rear discs and pads.
Rear nearside hub.
fuel tank strap.
Front brake hose replacement.
Coolant change.
Full service.
Air con re-gas.
Pair of rear shocks.
Rear anti roll bar mount replacement.
New battery
New wipers

The upgraded ceramic single row bearing is going to cost fair bit by itself.
I had mine done as a precautionary matter - needn't have bothered - the original was still like new - but for peace of mind it was worth it.

The "hospital" is busy (aren't all the good ones ) so looking at starting work in November, should give me some time to save up...

I feel now is an opportune time to raise my proposal to the forum owners about Moderator remuneration...
