If anyone can find me one with similar spec then I will go for it 1000%. Seriously
Yes, but your car was insurance write off, so of course will be much cheaper than comparable cars. Given you say the untrustworthy dealer repaired it themselves, that is not much comfort. Did they show you pictures of the damage?

Yeh he showed me the pics. The front bumper and passenger side wing has some damage and a headlight was replaced. He said only a new bumper was used. The wing has minor damage and the headlight is original and he showed me the original stamp it had on it.
I have found these guys
http://www.hadenbirmingham.co.uk/

I’m taking it here tmw and then will see what they say. If the car is messed up, I’m going for a full refund.

Easy as long as the spec includes dodgy service history and who knows what else,
the problem is most dealers wouldn't be retailing it.

Even most car auctions would be selling it as no history sold as seen.

Arthur Daley* would cringe at this.

This being a forum you will get many opinions on what you should do, all of them well intentioned but not necessarily the right option for you.
I wouldn't worry too much about resale value because the car is classified as a damaged car so you'll never get the same price as an undamaged one, and certainly the price you paid reflects that.
I would personally return the car but as you so rightly say, you'll be hard pushed to find another one at a similar price unless that comes with its own issues.
If you want to keep the car that of course is your choice but at least get it inspected by a local independent Mercedes specialist (WDM Cars perhaps) and be prepared to accept the lack of history which on a damaged car will have little bearing on price should you choose to sell it, especially if you maintain the history from now.
Mull it over for 24 hours and you might have a brainwave.

Thank you... and the mulling is on going.

Have you had an Insurance quote with the vehicles registration number if not put it in one of the price comparison sites.

Yeh I’ve been insured on it. The fact that it was a category N did not affect the premiums. I spoke to the insurance lady and she said as long as it has passed MoT, it’s fine. My insurance came to £1,400

It looks pretty good from the pictures. On these the panel fit where the front wing meets the bottom of the windscreen pillar can be difficult to get right if they’ve had a front bump. A good thing to look for when purchasing if previous repairs haven’t been mentioned by the vendor

Well he was going on about how I am hurting his feelings because he and his colleagues have put a lot of work and effort into the car and now I am apparently looking for ways to hate the car . He said he just wants to end it all because he cannot be bothered with the hassle he is getting from me. I must mention that at the beginning of the whole deal, he did make sure I paid the deposit through PayPal and reminded me to tick the “goods” option because he said I would be protected that way.
He was also willing to sign and stamp anything I put in front of him as proof of purchase in the condition the advert sold the car.
I believe he probably didn’t know how big a deal the service book or lack of rather, was... oh well

So remember when I said the guy replaced the headlight using an original? Well I just noticed now, the headlight that was not replaced has Mercedes engraved in it and the other one (the one that had to be replaced) does not have anything written on it.

does this mean the headlight he has used is not an original? please see images...

Pattern part from China or similar, if you can look at the back of the unit to see if there are any barcodes visible

I didn't read through all the threads in case somebody else mentioned this but would it be possible that Mercedes wiped the service history if they found out the car was written off to stop any further warranty claims or a maybe a legal move by them?
