Just as an aside, a friend on the 968UK forum posted about a PCGB forum member eulogising about his Taycan. Apparently he paid £27k to get a 3 phase supply and Porsche fast charger installed to go with his £135k 180 mile range electric car!:shock::shock:

Quite believe that Chris. A mate of mine was quoted £10,000 to put in a power pole and single phase into his barn conversion

Poles are where the price racks up plus distance, can be a real lottery how electric companies get their quotations, across neighbours properties adds more time wise hassle

Perhaps you have to get Porsche branded electricity from a shiny Porsche design box via a Porsche design cable up a Porsche design drive someone somewhere will believe it's better.

Well done you two - those things get heavier by the minute!

If you've got a Numark chemist nearby their muscle rub is lots cheaper than the advertised ones, and it doesn't sting or burn but we found it really helps.
best cure for muscle pain is get to back out at them 9" blocks the next day. After a few days you'll be broke in:D

Insulated roller shutter door, as wide as possible (no centre pillar!). At the old house my garage was 20ft wide, original plan was 2 x 8ft up and over doors with centre pillar, changed my mind and went for a single 16ft opening with no centre pillar, then found that a 16ft electric remote control roller shutter insulated door was cheaper than a 16ft up and over non electric!

Yes, solid concrete block and brick and will insulate between. I am going to put a gas fire in there so anything to keep the heat in and the cold out ;)
Thought the founds looked wide enough for a cavity wall, good choice for a warm garage:D. I prefer Rockwool for insulation if its done right compared to polystyrene

274734F0-8A0C-4D77-BD86-FDB7CE84F1AB.jpeg For insulation, look up building reclamation yards, I got Kingspan panels very cheaply. Most building sites slightly over order and you can get the overstock at a fraction of new price - same for windows and (Personal)doors- overs/wrong sized - but great to buy then build hole to suit.

I’ve just doubled the volume of the garden shed the 2300mm x800mm double glazed window in front of the workbench was originally one of a pair of French doors - cost me £20 for the pair online as they had no frame.

On our last garage extension build we opted for an up and over door which was 9ft wide and because the height was restricted with the attic type space above to fit a roller door, plus I had gone off the idea of fitting a single wide door minus centre pillar after the previous garage extension with a 17ft specially made door went horrible wrong. It was just too wide and not helped buy installing a cheap internet double insulated door. It was only up for a month when it came crashing down at one end. A replacement one was very noisy and cracked and banged when ever it was raised or lowered. I knew when the Missus arrived home
This time we have gone for twin rollers and with a height and width so I can get my small lorry in the garage if need be to work on :)
The single 17ft door without centre pillar was much better for getting cars in and out along with the bike. Pros and cons with both :(

Hoping to see the bricklayer later this week, got most of the solid concrete blocks in position with the help from the Missus bless her :)
Bad news for us now, diggers gone which means we have to move more blocks to the infield, that'll bring the Missus on

Don't tell her that, or it'll be what you spend on her at Xmas - and I for 1 cannot afford that for my wife much as I'd like to!

Be warned that those concrete blocks are like leaky sponges.

If you are insulating the cavities make sure it doesn't touch the outer skin otherwise moisture will track across and be very damp.
