see above Doug, it's from Ireland for sure but found it with the 2's instead of Z's. Looks nice!

Does anyone know what the process will be for getting the DVLA to correct this error? It is a fairly obvious mistake so I am hoping that they won't require an independent verification.

Also some online VIN code lookups seem to be inconsistent in that they think this is a CLS350 when it is a CLS320.

After some Googling the answer to the above is the power of the OM642 was increased around 2014 and that involved moving some ancillaries around too.
I thought it may have been because I have a factory hideaway tow bar fitted but clearly not.

You could be right, 926 just says 'EXHAUST GAS CLEANING WITH EURO 4 TECHNOLOGY' which I assumed would be a DPF.

I cannot find a VIN decoder that recognises vin on my 2019 C200.

I either get not available or a US one that says it was built in 2002.

Anyone know of one that will work?

Have you tried this one - it worked on my w220. But as you say, yours might be too new - but I doubt it.
