Hi All,

I am currently driving a C220 Mercedes (64 plate) and this morning something odd happened.

Doing the usual school run, I noticed when I parked up that my car was smoking a lot from the left exhaust, loads of white smoke. It was pretty obvious as I noticed it sat in the drivers seat and other parents pointed it out to me.

So when I got home, no sign of the white clouded smoke, checked the oil etc all seems to be normal.

Why would that happen? Is there anything to be worried about?

Thanks

Condensation, normal this time of year, once everthing is warm no water to vaporise.

Condensation is unlikely to smell,
if it is coolant it would have a sweet smell, try to get a nose full if it reoccurs.

Short journey, will defiantly produce condensation out of the exhaust. Try driving 5 miles before waiting at the school, & see if the condensation is still there.
If you are only doing short journeys to & from school, your next problem is going to be your DPF.

I do short journeys mostly. Took the car for a long 5-7 mile drive a bit ago and no smoke issue.

"long 5-7 mile drive"

I would have thought that it was hardly warmed up!

There is the answer. My shortest journey is 15 miles return, & the vast majority are 20 miles or more return.
