Problem was I was backed into the garage wall overnight
Literally 3’’ so when I accidentally stuck it in reverse there was no time for the prevention systems to kick in....
What an idiot!
Anyways BCA collection guy was very sympathetic and noted it all as best he could - £227 is the damage , could have been soooooo much worse!
Irritatingly the car would have had 100% clean bill of health apart from this which is impressive after 4 years with my lot!
Sad to see it go after all....

That’s the problem with parking sensors, you don’t know they’re not working until it gets expensive :(

The problem with parking sensors is that they bleep at stuff that is miles away from you and you eventually sub-consciously ignore them .... that's how I managed to 'clip' the side of a workmate's car with my R Class - I didn't even feel it in my car, just saw his car move! o_Oo_O
I can't get on or off my drive without sensors one side or the other shouting at me.

Sorry to see this John reminds me of a holiday in Somerset a few years back. On arrival at the ‘cottage’ a boulder hidden in grass jumped out at me lol and the rear suffered similar damage to your car, and this with rear camera and parking sensors, hadn’t even set foot in the accommodation and needless to say had to take a philosophical view for the rest of the week.
The rear view out of most modern cars is awful, high body line and narrow windows being common place, even with a well equipped car for reversing as I had it’s not always adequate to stop the odd scrape. I miss the 210 estate the view for reversing was was up there with the best I’ve driven.

What a bummer John - commiserations. I would have thought the rear lens alone would have been more than the price quoted.

I don't trust the sensors on my CLK. The offside front sensor/s sometimes bleep at me when l'm literally a foot or more away from some objects, accompanied by all display segments lighting up. The nearside seems much more accurate but still didn't prevent me from scraping my front bumper against my garden wall.

What’s the procedure with BCA collecting the car John. Don’t know whether to use them or take the GLE back to the dealer.
