Yes, good choice of car Michael. Just post up a link to any adverts that take your fancy. and the R230 crowd will be happy to give our opinions.

First thing you need to decide is what model, 350, 500, 55 Supercharged AMG or V12. There's a lot to be said for any variant, you just need to exercise a little caution, and find a good independent to look after it.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone. I’m looking for an SL350. Two cars I’m thinking of going to look at, a silver 03 for £8395 and a blue 06 for £10950. Both are on autotrader. Any opinions welcome

I spoke to the dealer about the silver one. He tells me it is at a local specialist having a couple of bits sorted as the roof wasn’t opening and closing smoothly. He is going to let me know when it is back so I can go and have a look.
Also spoke to the owner of the blue one who says there is nothing wrong with it and everything works as it should.
I do like the colour of the blue one.

Yes Blobcat, I really like the colour. Is the price a bit high? If the owner is telling it straight then it might be worth it?

Money is strong and there’s a lot out there below 10K, you can get the 500’s for ~5k for an 02-03. I’d go as late as you can get and the 350

Hello and welcome.
Good choice, I think we may go back to a r230 (350 guise) The Missus is finding the SLK far too rock hard now and after we went to the coast for a day out in my 55 on Friday the ride quality is chalk 'n cheese, shame really as the SLK is a brilliant car.

16” wheels are cheaper…

I know, but to go from 18" to 16" on a 350 might upset the geometry.
We are finding getting out of the car too now a little difficult especially me as I have to have the seat flat on the floor to get the most comfortable position :(The SL is a lot better to get out of for me though I have it set on the highest level which isn't as high as the 500 was on top level. The E Class is good for me, but as I get more decrepit I think an ML is going to be the best alternative  Oh isn't age and health the pits!
