I found that my oil level was slightly on the high side (not sure if I did that or it happend on the fly), could it be that it leaked through the cam-ventilation or something?
Its a doable job (you can access it fairly easy from about and below, but expect a full days work if you have never done it before. An experienced mechanic can do it in 2-3 hours.
My W212 E220 came back from service today after a gearbox oil replace. She drives smooth again if not for the enginemounts to be slightly worn (will do them soon).
The MB specialist also mentioned the car had developed a significant oil leak (couple of drops, about half liter per 10.000 km)...
If there is a drain plug in the TC then this does not apply as all fluid is really taken out.
My question still remains: if you can remove all the oil from the gearbox, then is there a reason why a flush would still be better?
Please do not compare the scenario of a flush vs a partial oil...
Im am in the Netherlands :)
If you can remove the oil from the TC, then what is really the added value of a flush over a complete oil removal and then a complete top up? And is it even technically possible in the W212 722.6 to remove the oil from the TC?
I assume it does, but thats defenitely worth checking. Mainly wondering if just replacing the oil is better than flushing it as the higher price would suggest.
Hi All,
I have a 2010 W212 E220 CDI with a 722.6 5G Tronic gearbox. It has 230k km on it and sometimes the gearbox is a bit jerky when cold. The gearbox was flushed some 70k km ago as said by the previous owner, but there is no way of checking (the dealership didnt make a xentry mention of it)...
GO for an E220 (or even better E200) and remap it to E250 (or 220 in case you get an E200), this way you don't have the expsensive faulty Piezo injectors but normal injectors which will never die but still have the E250 performance.
Consider going for the 5G over 7G which is more reliable (but...
Hi all<
Buddy of mine has a ML270 CDI W163 with about 150.000 miles on it. Unfortunately the car untill recently threw P1187/32 in combination with a complete engine stall around 4000RPM. This prompted us to start replacing parts starting with the common rail pressure sensor (OE used)...
Think I fixed it by taking out the stupid mirrorcast devices from the screen etc etc, the moment I removed it I immediately got the MB logo back, the screen worked without any issues and the device didnt reboot anymore when i pressed specific buttons.
Man man man man... happy I got this sorted.
Would like to reopen this topic as I just found out it only fixed the issue that the screen turned off frequently or when i selected some buttons.
The red noise on the screen of which I can't find anything on the internet is still there. I have recorded a video of it, see below.
Please not...
Probably it's an upgrade for the environment so I wouldn't go with it; it is likely to wear down your engine a lot quicker due to the burden of all kinds of emission equipment.
Hi All!
Have been enjoying my W212 to the fullest recently with the exception of one thing: sometimes the comand screen seems to shut down, sometimes just randomly, sometimes after pressing a particular button:
-When trying to change the bass of the audio settings the screen always shuts down...
Thanks for you replY! So good to see that there is so muhc knowledge here :)
I also have the 2000 on mine (see attached picture), so would the 2600 also work?
