At 2009 you are past the chain sprocket wear point. Cam variators can rattle on start up, and the chain tensioner can still go weak. With the engine off and the oil cap removed put a bar on the crank pulley and inch the engine forwards and backwards while watching the chain in the oil filler...
That’s shocking (forgive the pun) for the time and mileage. There appears to be some corrosion near the break point and also elsewhere on the spring. Damage to the protective coating from the spring compressors or just poor original finish?
The bags have a solenoid valve on the top that opens when signalled to both allow air in and out. Just running the pump won’t automatically raise the suspension
I look after a lot of 213 and 205 that have the two piece disc with seperate fluted bell. A lot of the 213 are taxis that have myriad drivers and lots of miles. Haven’t had any issues, but there are special notes about disc handling when fitting. The disc can move on the bell if handled roughly...
Be careful about using anything to try to flush it out. The two O rings that seal the timing cover to the engine block are all ageing now, and you don’t want to finish them off. Leave it overnight and hopefully it’ll all rise to the top. Do the header tank removal first, then drain the cooling...
Don’t start it. Lots of towels and remove the coolant header tank. Take it away from the car and properly wash it out. The oil floats on top, so as long as you don’t circulate it it will stay out of the engine. You probably know this ;)
These metal shim gaskets are one time only. If I had a pound for everytime I’ve seen someone re-use and it’s leaked…. The knee-jerk reaction is always to try tightening the bolts more.
It will come up on the dash as service A/B 7,8 or 9, somewhere between 70,000 and 85,000 miles depending on how ASSYST decides you drive. At my shop it’s circa £360 all in.
I don’t think that part 2 result is necessarily a problem. The 1 usually indicates an open circuit on a digital meter, and that’s a greater resistance than 20k, so seems ok. It’s the starter interlock test, so it’ll only crank in P or N, so if it cranks fine you don’t have a problem imo.
