I was wondering if I could activate the relay manually, its got that two wire plug so the wires must be live and earth. I have taken the relay off and cleaned the terminals but they looked pretty good anyway. I do have some of those plug in connectors so may try feeding it that way to check it...

Time for an oil and filter change on our 2005 W211 220CDI estate and I wondered what engine oil is recommended. Our specialist, who I can't get to at the moment, always just puts Castrol GTX Magnatec on his invoices but there are several versions of it. Which one do folks recommend please?

They are both new good quality batteries so I believe the problem must be something to do with the charging system. Our local specialist replaced the battery control relay shortly after fitting a new alternator so I am looking for ideas what else may be going on.
