Well at least you've made some progress.
I'm wondering if it would be worth a punt on a used supercharger from someone like Dronsfields. I'm not sure if they guarantee their parts but might be worth a look. Obviously you need the correct pre facelift one.
Good luck.
Absolutely understand this.
However the op said his specialist claimed not to know what to do. My interpretation of this was their lack of knowledge, but l could have misinterpreted.
My SLK does this, quite a lot of pressure on a hot day. I think it must be normal. My CLK doesn't but there again it's diesel and l don't think diesel "gasses" anywhere near as much as it's considerably less volatile.
Welcome.
I'm a bit skeptical as to whether wheel alignment can cause brake judder !
I think the number one thing is the disks themselves and whether they've been fitted correctly (scrupulously clean mating services) and bedded in properly after fitting by gentle braking for the first 500 miles...
Yes actually l believe there is a test that can be done, or so l read ages ago. Simply disconnect it (unplug the electrical connection) and apparently the ecu uses some default values to enable the engine to run ?
Just another thought about the ecu if it comes to replacement. I've a feeling it might need programming to the car. Not sure on this so best seek the advice of others if it comes to this before you go further. Also l believe there are specialists around who claim to be able to test & repair ecu's.
Spark plugs can give an indication of over fuelling yes. I'd also sniff near the exhaust to see if there's a petrol smell.
Another idea perhaps is to take the car to a friendly mot place and get an emissions test done. An excess of hydrocarbons would indicate over rich running.
I do hope it's...
Thanks for the update. Hope it keeps starting!
The supercharger thing is a mystery. I summise it can only be the supercharger itself or sensor/module/component that tells the supercharger when to kick in. Hopefully you or someone will get to the bottom of this soon.
I presume you've looked at...
Just thinking outside the box here for a mo. Strange that a battery disconnect and reconnect allows the car to start once more. To me this suggests possibly something electrical or electronic. I'd be checking ecu's for water damage and wiring for chafing or pest damage.
I agree these are...
Hi and welcome from a fellow SLK owner.
I Can't offer any direct advice or assistance but I'll be following this with interest and l hope these two issues get resolved.
As mentioned above, maybe best to find a different Mercedes specialist.
Good luck.
My favourite topic ! Not !!!!
My R170 SLK classic insurance is due in about 3 weeks. I had to chase the current broker since l like to plan ahead and the agreed value is due for review this year as well. It came in at £380 which isn’t far short of double what l paid last year. I immediately...
A hair dryer might help dry it out but don't use too much heat.
Is that rust l can see in the pic? Looks like water has been getting in there for a while.
Well I'm guessing the bleach has probably done something no good to something electrical / electronic. I'd probably leave it a couple of days to dry out and then if no good it's probably going to need the services of a good Merc indy with Star.
Sorry can't help with your SL but l replaced the third brake light on my CLK a while ago. It was a little fiddly but not as bad as l expected. In my case it was a case of loosening the trim inside the boot lid and reaching up behind to gain access to the brake light mounting bracket bolts. The...
