See below my trend for 7 years and 64k on an e220 diesel auto, always done with a brim to brim fill.
The low mpg are usually at winter, or when the car hasn’t been used for a period of a few months.
I only noticed a downward mpg trend after Mercedes reprogrammed the ecu. I hadn’t asked for...
Thanks for that bit of info.
I did have a gearbox mount changed during the summer, just because the Indy I was using (for something unrelated) suggested it. He said the old mount hadn’t failed or anything and a new one wasn’t required, but it would make a difference to driving (comfort?), can’t...
Ahh, if you mean gearbox or engine mount, that’s what I thought at first. But now that the temperature is higher, and normal service has resumed, I’m kinda ruling those out.

Yeah, that had crossed my mind.
Just reading other posts now[emoji849], I’m wondering if a frozen shut egr valve would give same symptoms. No lights came on dash though.

Not sure where to post this, as it’s a bit of an oddity.
2009 E220 diesel auto, had been lying up for about 3 weeks.
About 5 days into the cold snap, (below -1 consistently for 5 days), I decided to turn the car over to check the battery was ok.
It fired up straight away, but there was a small...
Mechanic No. 1 (not MB specialist) used a sealey code reader, that only picked up P0101 code.
After I’d left car with mechanic no. 2 (Specializes in MB), he rang me about 6 hrs later to say he’d sorted the problem.
My recollection of the call was that he believed the dpf sensor was faulty. He...
Merc mechanic diagnosed problem as a faulty dpf sensor.
He’s replaced it and drove the car for a while, and says it’s all working fine now.
Due to pick it up tomorrow [emoji2].

I’ve had the intercooler hose on the drivers side changed (even though there were no obvious splits in it).
Mechanic has checked the other hose and it’s fine. He doesn’t have a smoke machine, so we’ve agreed it’s best to take it to someone else who has, and possibly more used to the foibles of...
Hi, Long time since I’ve been on here…suppose that’s a good thing.[emoji2]
I was overtaking a car and then lost boost.
Engine light now on.
Mechanics diagnostic shows P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow “A” circuit range / performance.
The pipe from the intercooler towards the turbo area has a fair...
Stroke of luck perhaps.
Sent off photos this morning to dealer that I get my car serviced at, merely to query how the corrosion was not noticed at last service.
As it had full service history and is only just outside of a 10year corrosion warranty, Mercedes say they will cover the cost of a...
Yep, sounds like a good idea.
To be fair, I think I have more mechanical sympathy to my other cars (rover 75s), as I always believed the Mercedes was “out of my league and comfort zone”.
Please don’t laugh...the 75s are older and have faired better!!!

Yeah, new subframe I guess. Or perhaps a good used one, if it could be sourced.
Funny, (or not as the case may be) it wasn’t picked up at the last dealer service inspection in October, I think.

Filled up with diesel and headed off on a 250 mile journey. About 1 mile in, pressed the brakes going round a bend and the car nose dived towards the hedge on the near side. Happened every time I pressed the brakes, so had to nurse the car home, and get mechanic to trailer it away, while I made...
