Coincidentally I passed my test on 21/2/74 although been on the road before that on a bike since '71 (the days when you could ride a bike on L plates indefinitely - didn't pass my bike test until '97!). Also could I borrow Samantha sometime, I've got this bad knee that needs looking at....
I doubt that forum members will be able to give you a source of supply in India. In your position I'd be looking to get wiring looms from a salvage dealer. Have you tried ebay and similar?
If it's anything like the 216 you need to remove the seat bases first. Pull up at the rear and feel underneath at the front for the bracket and push the clip in and pull the seat upwards. This enables you to access the centre console fixings on each side. Use a plastic trim tool to gently pull...
A bcu fire seems fairly rare but not unknown in a 230. Several reports of this are mentioned on US MB forums. Cars are apparently written off by Insurers apparently due to consequent damage to wiring etc and the inability to replace the bcu. I suspect your only hope is to find a bcu off an...
Good bit of diagnosis there! The annoying thing is that the MOSFET will be bobbins to buy and it's a 5 minute job to desolder and solder in the new one.
Personally I think the SL500 is a wolf in wolf's clothing.
As above you will have to change the diffuser and the costs may escalate beyond what is reasonable, but I get the desire to do it;).
Glad you've managed to start sorting it. Unfortunately it's a scam that's been happening for years and easy to fall prey to. It was tried on a few years ago to friend of mine. There were 4 of them involved and tried to intimidate the guy. Unfortunately they hadn't realised he had his rugby...
I'd be tempted to use a Dremel with a pointed grinding stone and to grind away the plastic, not going too deep (you've got the new one as a guide). I've done this in similar situations and found that by removing material it loosens the bond and you can gradual take out the remains. with a...
I use Autoglym leather cleaner and their leather barm on our porcelain seats. Works well but I'm sure there are many other similar products available. There are fillers available but I've no idea how effective they are.
^ This exactly. A CTEK won't bring a battery at .17v back to life. I'd be trying an 8 amp charger or similar to try and recover but it does sound your battery has reached the end of it's life. Don't rule out the possibility that you have a battery drain.
"Start replacing parts etc" - sounds like a wallet emptying approach to fixing the problem, and you'll still be hit with the bill for parts even if the parts darts doesn't fix it. Awkward position to be in - not sure what I would do.
I really would not be taking a 2003 car to a Mercedes dealer unless you are prepared to be hit with a large bill (read very large). Are there no MB independent garages near you?
