    OM274 Engine Missfire

Small update for you... The car is now fine. My local garage changed injector number 2 and 3, and coils. £750 all in. Sounds like the fault codes kept throwing the garage off and I think they wasted a lot of time trying to pin point which injectors / coils were at fault. E.g scanner would say...

Update for you folks... The car is now fine. The garage changed injectors 2 and 3, and coils. £640 all in. The fault codes kept throwing the garage off and I think they wasted a lot of time trying to pin point which injectors / coils were at fault. I did query whether we should just change...

Hi folks, Having some real trouble here, E-Class 2013, petrol, M274 engine, 85k mileage, regularly serviced / looked after. Mostly used in town driving. History: 3 weeks, as I was parking, the engine bay started to shake/jerk as if it was going to stall. Left it, came back 7 hours later...

    OM274 Engine Missfire

The garage checked / replaced the injectors, spark plugs, coils and did a compression test in case the piston head cracked (apparently common with with M274 engine) But the problem persists :(

    OM274 Engine Missfire

Thanks for the update. Really appreciated. Having similar issues here. Replaced a few injectors and the issue persists so thinking maybe electrical / ECU now. As you say, 10 years old and 100k mileage - bound to have issues. Thinking it might be a good time to sell!

Hi Judwin, Out of interest, what happened in the end? I have a W212 (2013 e class, petrol) with the same m274 engine and have the same issue as you’ve described. Thanks

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

This was a normal independent garage, not a merc specialist. I think they felt sorry for me as they genuinely couldn’t believe it took this long to change a thermostat!

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

Thermostat changed and problem fixed. Thermostat was located in an inaccessible area so the mechanic had to do it. Took him over 3 hours! £200 Labour.

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

Thermostat is part number A2742000615 from Merc £120. I'm going to try and do it myself; if it looks too complicated I'll take it to my local garage. Failing all that, I'll get me some cardboard :P

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

Hi guys, having bled the coolant system, the issue persists. New thermostat it is - anybody managed to change it themselves? Below is a link to the part I think I need (will confirm this with MB this morning)...

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

Thanks all. It sounds like it is the thermostat. For arguments sake I bled the coolant system, topped up a little and will test the car tomorrow. If it's still playing up then I guess it's off to the garage, unless it's a DIY job?! Can't find a thermostat on Euro Car Parts. Guess will have to...

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

If the thermostat is playing up I wonder why in-town the temp is normal and stable at 90... It's almost as though the car is intentionally dropping the temp to 80 when driving at high speeds....

    W212 Petrol Coolant Temp Fluctuations

Hi all, W212 Petrol, M274 Engine, 2013, 60k mileage Coolant temp in town is stable at just under 90 which is fine........when travelling high speeds it's mostly at 80, however it will dip to 60's if I'm coasting. Had a MB software update recently (for the gearbox) but apart from that, the...

W212 E250 Petrol Auto Transmission Downshift Clunk

Thanks John. MB called to say it's ready and fixed. They replaced the crankshaft sensor, topped up the ATF with 1L and performed a software update. £370 all in. Very expensive considering the sensor + ATF fluid cost just £60, here's hoping it really is fixed.

W212 E250 Petrol Auto Transmission Downshift Clunk

The car is at MB main dealer at the moment, lets see what they say today. Hopefully they can diagnose it, then depending on the quote given to rectify I may decide to take it to an Indy. Will keep you updated

W212 E250 Petrol Auto Transmission Downshift Clunk

ATF and filters were changed at 40k. It's now on 60k. MB said there were no fault codes stored in the car. I don't think a good thrashing / re-learn would help. There's something clearly wrong here, it's a harsh/violent jerk followed by a loud thud noise; the issue is quickly provoked under...

W212 E250 Petrol Auto Transmission Downshift Clunk

Not sounding great. Took it to MB main dealer. They topped up the ATF which was 1L short although no signs of a leak and did a gearbox software upgrade hoping it will fix things but it hasn't. Further testing will be done today :-(
