I had this problem, traced to a cracked junction on the washer jet hose meaning it couldn’t build pressure in the line.
Taped up for a temporary fix, will replace it with a used part soon.
Been having a 3rd brake light error recently so whipped it out at the weekend to check it out. Even before stripping it down, it wasn’t looking too healthy.
The rubber seal had totally perished and the housing was cracked, had probably been getting water in for a while.
Even before testing the...
Perhaps it was a bit more, it certainly didn't feel like an unsafe distance for the speed and conditions. I don't advocate tailgating at all, and wouldn't have done it unless it was safe to do so.
I was roughly two cars lengths behind, and was lucky to be following a very tall lorry on an empty motorway in good conditions.
I don't know if it's just placebo, but the general feel of the car is smoother and I don't feel like I need to work the engine and gearbox very much at all.
Cheers Dave, in all fairness the car has been a pleasure to work on most of the time. I think I've only encountered one seized bolt so far.... which pales into insignificance when compared to my other cars!
The front bumper at a reasonable price vs condition is still proving to be elusive, but I...
Have been getting a lot of crashing from the back end and rough ride over speed bumps so replaced the shocks with some new Bilsteins. I had originally ordered Sachs as they were cheaper, however... they are not supplied with the top mounts and you cannot buy the top mounts separately for love...
Thanks for all of the advice gents.
So I managed to bag another piece of the puzzle, what appears to be a new old stock genuine MB item.
This is the first I’ve seen come up on ebay for a facelift, so quickly nabbed it.
Now I’m just patiently waiting on a good bumper, ideally that I don’t need...
Thanks, I’m not too fond of FM transmission devices really.
I have been pointed towards a WMA3000A unit that plugs into the media port.. seems like a good solution, if not a bit expensive
Hi all, wondering if anyone can tell me if this will work with my 2008 W164 with Comand APS with DVD changer.
I saw that a popular way was to use an old style iPod cable and a bluetooth adapter but this appears to be an all in one unit now?
thanks, I’ve still got a bit to do with the front bumper & skid pan and some other misc tidying up.. but she’s a pleasure to drive already.
Yes I’ve been keeping a tally, I’ve not been through in detail yet but think I’ve saved a fair bit on market value.
Plus I’ve got a car I know inside out...
Missed out on a silver bumper complete with frame.. there really are some weird sellers on ebay. My offer for £175 got rejected and this morning I get a mail to say it was sold for £150.... the search goes on..
Got stuck into the fuel filter change on Sat, and refitted the big red seal but with some sealant this time.
Some bad news though, the plugs that I had to wait so long for seem to be the wrong type. It looks like my swirl flap motor has a four pin plug not a three pin.
I did a fair amount of...
So a local garage were able to drill it out, costing me a couple of hours labour.. but it’s out, and that’s what matters most.
Was able to get the spring done this morning and even had enough time for a bit of engine maintenance.
Spring was broken at the top, so got my new spring comoressors on...
