HI all,
Tried to remove my coolant temp sensor on a W212 E350 and the plastic was so brittle it just disintegrated in my hand as soon as I touched it. Just two metal prongs were left so I used pliers and gave it a tug and the two prongs just came out... all that’s left is some plastic, with the...
I have one of those early 212s that doesn't have the adjustment in the cluster - my dad's 212 which is just 6 months newer has it.
Has anyone found a way to do it without taking it to MB - via iCarSoft, Carly, or some other convenient way?
Thanks all, I’d go for B4 but the screenshots show two options of B4 for front and rear.
They seem the same other than price, but they have different part numbers.
Which is the right one for my E350 W212 Sport pre-facelift 59 plate?
Hi all,
If wanting to replace dampers on W212 with sport suspension, does the B4 act as an OEM replacement for the Sport suspension?
Or is B4 for the avantgarde/SE suspension and the B6 is for the Sport?
I’m pretty sure the B4 is the one to go for…
However, AUTODOC seems to list two possible...
Also if anybody has any advice on refitting - e.g. get the rubber boot in the caliper first, then add grease and slide pin etc... or to add the slide pin inside the rubber boot first then to try to put that into the caliper... I'm all ears!
Just received my second pack!
Could anybody help me with regards to torque settings: I'm seeing some conflicting info online, some people say to torque the caliper bracket to 180nm at the front, some people say 115nm. The caliper slider bolts are 25nm? The Brake disc Torx bolt that secures disc...
Fair to say mine are done… especially the top one. Was a nightmare to remove. You can see the tear that caused the corrosion in the third pic. Had to get pretty aggressive with some pliers to get that one out, so I’m glad I ordered a replacement set.
Just ordered a set for the other side too...
Thanks, I'll order the kit from brake parts then. It's about £16 delivered
In the picture the bolts have red permanent thread lock on them, I thought it was supposed to be the blue semi permanent, but whatever!
I think I'm actually mainly after the boots - the pins should be reusable even if they struggle to come out a bit. The slider pin boots are 14 years old now so the chances of me not ripping them when removing them in this cold weather is low imho!
Hi,
My front brake pin slider's on a W212 E350 Sport are frozen, at least on one side anyway. I am going to try to lube them but if I rip the rubber boots trying to extract the slide pin, I'll have to replace them.
Does anyone know of a good, reliable source?
All the one's I've seen are 'no...
You'll only notice a mismatch if you're turning while also looking at the car, hehe.
If you ever see anybody driving slowly in a W212 with bixenons and they turn, you'll notice that the cornering light is a relatively dim, yellow, traditional halogen bulb. You can obviously get more white/blue...
I bought a pair of "OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER LASER D1S" for my W212 with xenons, they're good but not a huge difference from the OEM. It's a bit of a pain and requires the arch liner's out unless you have very dainty hands, and have done it before. Once you've done it before, you can kind of...
Are you saying the cost to change the blower motor was £600?
The OEM spec Behr Hella is around £115-150 and it takes about 20 mins to change. I've re-oil mine once a year for the past 4-5 and the it's a very quick process. Much quicker to simply swap the old one out for a new one!
It’s a shame I couldn’t go the GAD route. I realised that that reason my mapped 231bhp still feels slower around town and in traffic than my dads stock 265bhp is because the my map barely has any extra torque before 2000rpm, which is where you live in city driving. As such, even if my car has...
