Hi

I have a 01 E200k and from time to time when sitting in traffic the engine seems to get quite hot....between 80 and 100 degrees. If it's raining you'll see smoke/condensation from the bonnet.

I change the thrmostat and it improved marginally but not much. I did read though that the engine can safely go to 120 degrees without a cause for concern...

I am due to NCT it here in Ireland soon and just wondering if I have anything to worry about.

Any ideas?

Most MBs run rather too low in my view at 80c but your car has a fan that cuts in at 100c, as long as the electric fan is running I would not worry

Viscous fan clutch may have gone. Same thing happens to mine.

You can reduce the coolant temperature by opening the windows a crack and setting the temperature controls to blast hot air out.
