'01 sprinter 312

hi all,
my friends sprinter based m/home has been having problems last time out. lack of power going up hills, power/no power. he has been told it may be the recirculation valve? is it repairable, cleanable or an easy job to replace if not?

Are you sure it is a 312 and not a 311/313? an 01 sprinter should be a CDI model but if the chassis was sat at the builders for a while and registered late then it could be a 312 so I am not sure if this applies but take a look at this thread - http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=24000

hi steve,
found out it's an '00 but def. a 312, checked all vac. pipes and they are fine. thing is it has only done 40k. think it's the recirculation valve. any probs fitting new one?
