A little help please.
I have a rubbing type sound coming from somewhere under the car it would appear. Its like a metal on metal sound.
I have taken off both back wheel hubs and cleaned up everything...got rid of plenty of dirt and everything is now clean and free. The noise is still there. I had a look under the car and can't see
anything loose or rubbing. Its hard to figure out where the noise is coming from (and hard to describe) so I'm wondering
where are the correct places to check.
The car passed the car test in the last few months and very little mileage done since.
Thanks for any help.

Could be brake pads sticking to the disc because of lack of use , or parking brake pads sticking ? You may have to jack the car up to spin the wheels to narrow it down .

Rusty brake disc? Rusty dust shield contacting disc? Stone stuck in dust shield? Further under exhaust heat shield dropped down onto propshaft? Handbrake cable dropped onto a shaft?

Don't forget to check the retaining spring for the rear handbrake shoes. Don't ask how I came up with that one o_O
