108d engine noise

Hi Could anyone help me with an old vito van.

The engine has developed a sort of top end knock sound at about 2000 rpm but then goes of at about 2500 rpm.

The engine runs fine and starts fine?

could it be an ecu or injector broblem.

Can you reset the ecu.

Are you sure its not the timing chain?

How could i tell if its the chain, is it adjustable
