124 A/C Electrical Problems

Can anyone out there help? I have just purchased a 124 Estate 300TE and the air conditioning, dehumidification or re-circ buttons on the dash do not light up when you press them? I have played around with them but the air con does not seem to work? I have check fuse no. 7 16amp which seems to be intact with no too much corrosion? Looking at the a/c condenser with the engine running and trying different combo's of buttons pressed does not seem to engage? Anyhelp much appreciated!!

You need to find out if the system fitted is factory fitted or dealer fitted. Many cars came to the dealers without aircon and was fitted at the dealer either by the dealer itself or by sub-contracted aircon fitters. If your system was retro-fitted there will be more fuses hidden within the loom. See if you can follow the loom from the compressor along the inner wings, you may find fuses there.

I heard of a similar problem here recently, where the switch didn´t work, unfortunately the car wasn´t fitted with aircon! It just had the switch!
