124 Cabriolet heater

Howdy.

Not been on here in a while, hope everyone is well.

As a direct result of a mid-life crisis I have bought a 124 Cabriolet (if anyone is interested, I'll post some pics).

It has very few problems (apart from being surprisingly slow). One problem I can't fathom is the heater.

When the heater control is 'clicked' into it's lowest setting it is cold, anything other than that delivers heat similar to that of a Turkish prison i.e. there is no in between.

I know that the duovalve is suspect if the heat is hot, no matter what the temperature dial is set to but do you think this is the culprit here or something else.

Yes, sounds like the duo valve is sticking, if percussive maintenance does not work, then removal and cleaning isnt horrible.

Thanks folks.

The car is off the road now for the winter months so will give it a whirl.

I vaguely recall that there is a Howto on duovalve cleaning on here.
