I have recently rebuilt the gearbox on my 300td 124 diesel estate. With the help from a friend who is an extremly good mechanic. Unfortunately we have been left baffled by the following fault. The box goes in to reverse perfectly as to be expected but when placed in drive in hesitates a little for a split second ( not that familiar clunk that i have had on previous Mercedes autos) it changes up through the gears but will not go into 4th. I have a read a couple of posts on the forum regarding various issues and can come with the following possibilities. I have replaced the fluid with M.B, new filter and checked the kickdown adjustment, these all ok. Could it be the Modulator?, is this on the rear of the box in a casting with a wire going into it?, do the vacume pressures need restoring to factory settings??

Any help would be gladly recieved.
Many thanks.
