My recently acquired 500SL seems to have a couple of "traits".
I believe that most Merc's have a "wander" to the left on cambered roads I have done a search and found some excellent advice on this site, which initially put my mind at rest. However, the pull does seem a little excessive, with a little constant pressure required to keep the car straight. Is it time for a 4 wheel alignment and castor check? What can be done to correct? The car has never suffered crash damage.
Also, the auto gearbox does not seem to be as good as I would have hoped: it can be "sticky" to change up on part throttle openings (even after the warming up period), only changing up when the throttle is almost closed which produces a lurch. And while generally things improve after a good 20 minutes of use (longer than I would expect), you still get the odd thump or lurch on some upchanges.
I believe the car should have transmission oil/filter changes every 36k miles: the car is now on 100k with FSH. Worth having it changed, or are there any adjustments that I could have performed or checked?
Generally I love the car, although these little traits have taken a tiny bit of shine off my enjoyment.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Olly
