129-(ASR) Warning light

When I start the engine up there's a new noise coming from the front passengers side of the engine like a motor has started. This noise disappears just as the (ASR) warning light goes out. Anyone had this or got any idea what the likely cause is before I have to shell out a suitcase of money to have it remedied?

Oops I meant the noise goes out just as the light comes on!!

It could be the ABS pump charging, this is a hard one without hearing the noise and not something that I have heard of before

the anti skid facility (ASR) does use the ABS pump in the engine compartment.
