129 roof problems

Just bought a 1991 500sl, tried the roof, nothing but a clik behind drivers seat, so I tried the spanner to do it manually, in the boot one of the small red levers is missing, and the other is solid, do the rams ever lockup and not move. Any suggestions

Hi,

Which roof are you referring to ?. The hard top has two locks above the sun visors that need releasing as well.

I assume that you bought the car with the roof not working or has it just packed up ??

Sorry, yes bought the car like this.
I'm trying to get the hard top off.

Above the sun visors are little access points. Need to pop out the blanking plates and use the hex key in the tool kit or one similar, 8mm I think to unlock the two front locks.
Not too sure how you will sort out the rear ones if one is broken and one missing.
The key needs to be in position one and the roof switch needs to be operated within three seconds for it to begin its sequence, if you have not tried this. It will just click if not. Don’t forget to un plug the rear window heater cable too. Apologies if you already know this but thought I’d mention these bits Incase not.

6mm hex above the windscreen. They're tight to turn.
