Hi Guys can you please help,
My engine management lights came on after a few hours stuck in traffic on Friday and i have took the car to S.G Mercedes and they said i need a new cylinder head ??.The car was only at the garage half an hour. When the diagnosis came to the desk the guy said it would cost me £4,000 to fix i nearly fainted but then he said if i paid £1,600 S.G would pay the other £2,400??? i find this very fishy. Also the car was worse on the drive home and they did not even turn the lights off on the dash
It is a 53 c180 compressor auto.
Can you please let me know if they are being fair as i think i am being ripped off for being a single lady on her own.
please help and advise
Gill xx:(

You could try these people for a 2nd opinion http://www.stuttgartgarage.co.uk/ They will be a lot cheaper than the dealer for labour.
However as it is just out warranty I would say that this fault has not just occurred it started whilst in warranty and you expect as a good and loyal customer that this will be covered under the warranty. If no joy write to MB UK head office in Milton Keynes.

Been on Blobcat's link, he wouldn't give you a bum steer, so they would be worth trying. I'd still get a report from the MB dealer you went to then you could let us have more info on here.

Thanks for the X;) :D

Just looked it up,there are no known head problems on this car,and we have not had one here during this last 18 months.

As it is a 53 reg, when was it first registered?
I'm still of the opinion to push the warranty button.

thinking on this, they let the lady drive it home,so it cant be water in the oil.
