Does the ABS work properly? If so, it could be just a dodgy connection.

It has to be a wheel sensor. When the car is started it is in reset mode as soon as you move one wheel sensor is not working and it will light up ABS warning. Some people get away with cleaning the sensor, but I think in your case one is faulty.

The asd light is a triangle in the middle of a dial which lights up when it's in in use or stays illuminated when there's a fault, the abs light is a rectangular 'idiot' light (with abs written on it) in the strip below the instruments. Are they both coming on at the same time? If the abs light is on the abs is not working.

The ASD shares some components with the ABS, sinse the lamps are not on when starting this shows that the ABS HP pump and ECU are OK

no ! both lights do not come on at the same time, asd comes on and off as it pleases ( don't exactly know what the asd is or does )...

In front of your battery there is a little black box, roughly twice the size of a fag packet, standing upright. Open it & remove the ASD brain box, clean the connectors as much as you can &, in 90% of cases, that solves the prob. ABS is, again, 90% of the time a sensor as TV said earlier.

Basically, ASD is an electronic LSD. Google it or look on bezworld, 190revolution, mbclub.co.uk or any of the MB forums.

Mine used to light up in 3rd on dry roads. Miss the Cossie, but was going to die in it, the way it asked to be driven.
